Equal to Canon and Nikon consumer DSLR's pic quality/resolution.

I have had the G1 for two weeks now and have been very impressed overall. The good includes picture quality and resolution, live view focus speed and the articulating LCD is a great benefit. The size is excellent - easy to hold, shoot and carry. The Auto ISO mode provides excellent pictures every time - much better than the XSI in auto mode, IMHO.
The not so good includes the confusing and complicated ownerââ€â„¢s manual, lack of help functions for certain of menu screens. The price is now at $750.00 in Canada and less in the U.S. It will soon be less than $600.00 - just be prepared to negotiate.
From reading all the fairly negative reviews on the G1, it seems to me that that the "DSLR purists" can't see to accept or acknowledge the breakthrough that Panasonic has accomplished. If you think it might be right for you, pick one up where there is a reasonable return policy ââ€" you likely wonââ€â„¢t be disappointed
