Nice phone

This is my first smart phone ever. I had three choices to choose from. Pearl, 8700g and Dash. Since I hate Windows Dash was not an option, Pearl didn't have full keyboard, and since I didn't care about a camera phone I picked 8700g. One of the things I read about was the keyboard, that it's slippery blah. I can't say a bad word about it. Sturdy, plastic (not rubber) keys which are accurate and have precise response! Small, OF COURSE, it's not a computer keyboard!!! Another strong feature of this phone is a very strong battery, at least in my opinion.

I use Google Mail and I downloaded their software, which is slow. I use phone-based applications which work in a real time mode, most of the time. Just few delays.

Someone's saying "SIM contacts must be manually moved over", that's a good one :). Read the manual if you can't figure that one by yourself ;). From the Address Book you can import/copy all contacts from your SIM card. So if you don't need Wi-Fi, a camera and expandable memory, go for it.

Nice and easy UI, lacking features

If the T-Mobile Blackberry 8700g/8700c (on the Cingular network) had expandable memory and a camera and WI-FI, I'd be all over that device. Touch screens are nice, but could be a pain to dial phone numbers unless you have fingernails or enlarge the buttons. As compared to the Treo or Danger Hip-Top/Sidekick, this one's the hands-down winner - but this may be more of a MAC vs. PC debate more than anything else.

Bottom line, if you get an MDA or whatever else HTC Wizard Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC, be sure to understand its limitations. and check out http://www.mdahacks.com and boost your phone's features with hacks and tweaks.
